What is Prenatal Yoga
Pregnancy is a wonderful and unique time in a woman’s life. Prenatal yoga combines postures (asanas) and breathing exercises (pranayama) to help you become more present in your body, helping you relax and prepare you for birth and motherhood.
Prenatal yoga creates awareness of your own mind, body and spirit and deeply connect you to your baby.
Prenatal yoga is different to general yoga in that many of the classical postures are adapted to accommodate the changes in the body.
Through her class Maria will guide you to reconnect with your body’s inner wisdom.
Benefits of Prenatal Yoga
Practicing yoga during pregnancy will strengthen your pelvic muscles and uterus, relieve fatigue and tension and revitalize internal organs for better health of all systems of your body. It will improve circulation, aid digestion, and other pregnancy related symptoms; such as swelling, back pain, constipation or heartburn.
Breathing exercises learned in prenatal yoga classes can be used at anytime during pregnancy.Focusing on the breath can have a deep effect, helping you feel in control of your thoughts and body. Deep breathing exercises can be of a great assistance during the birthing process.
Lotus Mom prenatal yoga classes are gentle and safe for all women, whether you are new to yoga or have years of practice. Women at any stage of pregnancy are welcome.
